The Bible contains numerous references to the blessedness and beauty of Love and most times, many people will think about marriage when we talk about love.
Its poetic love scriptures eloquently sum up what it means to be in love and to commit yourself to your significant other for the rest of your life. These Bible verses about marriage are the ideal addition to wedding vows.
There are a number of ways we could show love, some of the ways even if done may not necessarily make meaning to our other partner for example: My wife Prossy prepares a special dish each of my birthdays especially a dish she feels or notices I love much more but being a man that understands her and the effort she puts in, I will be thankful, this does not necessarily mean I don’t love other gestures.
So whichever way we choose or chose to gesture our love to friends, family et al, the big question here is, what is love any way?
The world has given different “colors of love” such as, “Buying a ring, buying a car, name it all” but what does the bible talk about love?
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient (Long suffering, tolerant, unwearied, serene) love is kind (Manner). It does not envy (Jealousy, Greed, Resentment) it does not boast (possess, brag, blow your own horn), it is not proud (Pompous, arrogant, big headed) 5 It does not dishonor (Discredit, bring shame on, humiliate) others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
I see love here as facets of character, keeping in mind that these are strong “colors of love” as what comes out of us, I notice love, as a God fearing man, through its fruits. Love is one of the fruits of the spirit and a fruit has its own effects when we have it, notice it or eat it and therefore we give it and have it too through its results it produces. LOVE is something big!
Love is a daily act, an act that produces results that we see on the outside and which we should celebrate every day!
1 John 4:19 New International Version (NIV)
19 We love because he first loved us.
This is one big reason, why choose Love? We love because he first loved us!
We choose Love, Choose to love we keep doing the right thing because he(God, Christ) first loved us!
The best way we can celebrate love is to continue doing the right thing that we also know is right that’s: heed to scripture and that, keeps us going!
Love is best celebrated as we grow closer to God through developing these character traits of love seeing each other in the lens of Christ using Christ as our mirror!
Yes love is good even with our friends and members of our families, the Bible contains numerous references to the sanctity and beauty of Love, make use of it in your Christian home, marriage is maintained by mature thinking and character which is the emphasis here.
Remember to love as we love ourselves, in other words, the person we love, we are empathetic, put them in place of our own selves, see them as if we are the ones in that mirror.
Celebrate love each day!
